Men's Soccer Takes Down St. John Fisher 2-1

ROCHESTER, NY: The Geneseo Men's Soccer team came out with a huge win over the St. John Fisher Cardinals 2-1 this afternoon. This win puts the Knights record at 4-3-1 overall and 2-0-0 in  conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Knights took the lead early in the game after Michael Ruggiero knocked one in bottom right off a well-placed chip over the defense from Dylan Thody.

  • Geneseo remained strong throughout the first both on offense and defense, but Fisher tied it up off a corner kick in the final minutes of the half.

  • Geneseo entered the second half hot, taking the lead at 47:25. Nathan Shin sent a ball from the Knights 18', finding a Thody on a breakaway in Fishers defensive end. Thody, unmanned, took the wide-open shot and found the back of the net to make it 2-1.

  • The Knights continued to maintain control through the rest of the half, making great plays both offensively and defensively. Max Crothall came up big for the Knights, making a diving save to tip the ball wide in the 60th minute. He followed it with another quick reaction in the final minutes and the Knights secured the 2-1 victory over the Cardinals.

QUICK FACTS:
