GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's soccer team tied Alfred State 1-1 this afternoon in a non-conference game. The team sits at 3-3-1 now overall, with a 1-0 conference record.  

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

• The Knights struck first at 15:14, with Michael Ruggiero picking up the rebound off his own blocked free kick and ripping a shot to the bottom left corner to put Geneseo ahead 1-0. The Knights continued to put the pressure on, tallying eight shots on the board before half.  

• Alfred turned up the heat in the second half, putting seven shots on goal, eventually finding the back of the net in the closing minutes to tie the game.

• Geneseo emptied the tank in the final minutes to take the lead but were unsuccessful, despite great shots from Alfonso Vito and Ruggiero.  

QUICK FACTS: 

• Ruggiero scored the Knights' only goal, putting him at three on the season. 

• Max Crothall tallied seven saves while in goal.

Geneseo is on the road against St. John Fisher on Saturday for a 12 p.m. kickoff.
