OSWEGO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo field hockey team defeated Oswego by a score of 7-0 on Wednesday afternoon, with sophomore forward
Aubree Wenner recording a hat trick leading the offensive effort. The Knights improve to 5-1 overall while the Lakers dip to 1-5.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Sam Lewis wasted no time putting Geneseo ahead, scoring in the second minute of action. Ava Harman was able to make it 2-0 for the Knights in the first quarter, finding the back of the goal off a pass from Kyra Giannelli.
- Harman registered her second-straight goal to begin the second quarter off a pass from Wenner, who then tallied back-to-back goal of her own to close out the first half.
- Neither team was able to score in the third quarter, but Halle Senfield opened up the fourth quarter with a goal before Wenner completed the hat trick while securing the 7-0 victory.
QUICK FACTS:
- Wenner registered a seven-point game, moving her season total to nine. Harman picked up five points in the game with two goals and an assist, increasing her points on the season to 12.
- Bridget Schafer earned the win in goal after playing the first half, while Alessandra Burke and Marley Runciman both saw time in goal in the second half.
- The Knights defense was stellar, holding the Oswego offense to zero shots in the contest.
