FREDONIA, N.Y. – The SUNY Geneseo women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season in a 2-1 defeat at Fredonia on Wednesday afternoon. The Knights fall to 0-1-2 on the season while the Blue Devils move to 1-2-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Both teams were looking to get on the board early in the first half, but the defenses held strong until the 37th minute when Fredonia was able to get ahead 1-0.
• Geneseo quickly responded, with Ashley Pawelczyk scoring in the 44th minute, right before halftime, off an assist by Kirsten Shepherd
• Fredonia managed to break the tie five minutes after halftime, and despite Geneseo keeping the pressure on, their shots couldn't find the back of the net and they were unable to find the equalizer.

QUICK FACTS:

• Pawelczyk notched her first career goal in the game.
• Geneseo out shot Fredonia 17-9, Emily McLouth registered five saves in the game.
