Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Comeback Falls Short For Men's Soccer At #16 Buffalo St.

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's soccer team nearly pulled off a comeback down two goals at No. 16 Buffalo St. on Saturday evening, but ultimately fell by a score of 2-1. The Knights move to 1-1 on the season following their first game victory over St. Lawrence on Friday.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Bengals came out firing, and caught Geneseo off guard by jumping ahead 2-0 in the first 20 minutes. However, the Knights were able to settle in and had a few good opportunities to score in the first half, with Giancarlo Di Fava and Charlie Sorensen each registering shots on goal.
  • Geneseo kept that momentum going in the second half, as Owen Burke put the Knights on the board off an assist from Dylan Thody on a corner kick.
  • The Knights kept the pressure on throughout the second half, but couldn't find the equalizer and ultimately fell 2-1.
QUICK FACTS:
  • Burke recorded his first goal of the season and third of his career, while Thody added an assist to go with his team-high two goals on the season.
  • Max Crothall played all 90 minutes in goal and tallied four saves.
WHAT'S NEXT?
Geneseo will remain on the road as they head to Fredonia on Tuesday, Sep. 2 at 4 p.m.
