GENESEO, NY: The Geneseo Women's Lacrosse team took down Brockport to advance to the Empire 8 Championship game, winning 13-9.  

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

• Rosemary Mahoney was first on the board for Geneseo, after a great save made by Emily DeJohn to get the Knights on offense. Geneseo tallied two more, coming from Dany Emler and Katie Rajkowski before Brockport scored their first.  

• Brockport tied it up 3-3 in the second quarter but goals from Maddie Brown, Alaina Reina and Emler gave the team the lead. Olivia Luchetti found the back of the net on a man-up opportunity and Geneseo headed into halftime leading 7-4.  

• Luchetti score her second of the day early in the second, but Brockport came back, closing the lead to only one. Lila Warner and Brown retaliated, scoring two goals in the final three minutes of play.  

• Geneseo held strong through the final quarter, with Reina (2) and Warner sealing the deal and scoring the final three goals for the Knights and leading the team to a 13-9 win over Brockport.  

QUICK FACTS: 

• Alaina Reina led the team with three goals, and one assist, tallying her seventh hattrick of the season.  

• Violet Piccinini had a great game, with three caused turnovers and three ground balls. 

• Geneseo outshot Brockport 19-9.

The Knights head to St. John Fisher University to face the no.1 seed Cardinals on Saturday, May 3rd at 3 PM.
