ROCHESTER, N.Y. AND CHESTER, P.A. - The SUNY Geneseo men's track and field team competed at both Rochester and Widener on Saturday, April 19.
At Widener, the 4x400 relay team of
Arjun Ojha,
Sam Belmont,
Matthew Sheehan, and
Jacob Miller placed first overall with a time of 3:11.65, the third fastest time in Division III this season. Miller went on to compete in the 400m, and took second at 47.35, a top-12 time in the country. Sheehan joined Miller in adding an impressive personal finish, as he raced the 800m with a time of 1:51.15, a top-20 time in Division III.
Ryan Hagan competed in the mile and put up a time of 4:05.31, while
Brendan Style added a second place finish in the 110m hurdles. Style also placed third in the 400m hurdles, while
Sam Belmont took second at 53.72.
Nick Bauman added a time of 3:54.45 in the 1500m and then
Anson Butler went second in the 5000m at 14:34.14.
Geneseo placed fourth at Rochester with a total of 134 points, including 57 points from the 10,000m and 1500m. The Knights had all five runners competing in the 10,000m, while
Pierce Young and
Emerson Comer took first and second in the 1500m, respectively. Young went on to pick up another first place finish, this time in the 800m with a time of 1:56.49.
James Tette picked up a first place finish in the 3000m Steeplechase, while
Dylan Friel came in third. In the field events,
Chris Desiderio and
Sean Stewart placed top four in the triple jump, while Ray Trottier earned a first place finish in the shot put at a distance of 14.41.
Paul Hayes and
Jayden Carroll each placed top-five in the discuss throw to round out the top performances for the Knights.
