Men's Lacrosse Comes Up Short Against Nazareth

ROCHESTER, NY: The Geneseo Men's Lacrosse team fell in a close battle against the Nazareth Golden Flyers 10-9. The team is now 6-7 overall with a 3-3 record in Empire 8 conference play. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

  • Nazareth opened the first with a four-goal streak before Alex Johanson found the back of the net at 3:07, and was assisted by Jake Perinchief

  • The Knights found their groove in the second, scoring three more to tie the game. Senior Riley Henselder tallied two unassisted goals followed by Askel Stanat with one of his own.  

  • The Golden Flyers took control of the third quarter, scoring five more. The Knights only goal in the third was scored by Josh Knapp, who went coast to coast with his long stick for his first collegiate goal.  

  • Geneseo put up a fight in the fourth, going on a three-goal streak from Henselder (2) and Max Esposito bringing the deficit to one. Nazareth tallied one more making it 10-8 before the Knights final push with Ryan Trebbing scoring in the final minutes of play. Despite the team's efforts, the Knights were unable to make the comeback and fell to the Golden Flyers, 10-9. 

QUICK FACTS: 

  • Riley Henselder tallied his 5th hattrick of the season, scoring four more today. 

  • Josh Knapp had an impressive game, scoring his first career goal and having two caused turnovers and four ground balls.

The Knights will host Keuka on Wednesday, April 15th at 4 PM.
