ITHACA, N.Y. - The Geneseo Men's Track and Field Team competed at the AARTFC Regional Championships this weekend at Ithaca College, and came away with a second place finish at 74 points, while Rowan finished first with 90.
DAY ONE:
The Geneseo distance medley team of Connor Hitt, Jacob Miller, Matthew Sheehan and Mike Taranto opened the meet with an impressive first place finish with a time of 9:59.69, finishing 18 seconds ahead of the next team. Charlie Wilson set a new meet record after taking first in the 5000m with his time of 14:26.66 and beating the second-place runner by 38 seconds. Ray Trottier tallied points for the team with his 15.19 throw in the shot put while Sam Belmont, Arjun Ojha, Matthew Sheehan and Jacob Miller took second in the 4x400, crossing the line at 3:15.34.
DAY TWO:
The Knights put up an impressive performance in the 3000m, placing three runners in the top five. Pierce Young and Anson Butler placed first and second with times of 8:23.51 and 8:28.66, respectively, while Mike Taranto finished fifth. Geneseo put up three points in the heptathlon, as Daniel Pagan and Jonathan McNamara finished seventh and eighth, respectively. Connor Hitt tacked on five points in the mile with a time of 4:19.06, while Sam Belmont and Matthew Sheehan combined for five points in the 400m and 800m, respectively. The team of Jack Towns, Bergen Caprood, Brendan Style, and Andrew Kent took seventh in the 4x200 with a time of 1:30.68.
