Men's Track and Field Finishes Second in USTFCCCA Program of the Year Standings, Women 13th

NEW ORLEANS - The SUNY Geneseo men's cross country and track and field teams capped off their historic 2025-26 campaign by finishing a program-best second overall in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Program of the Year standings. On the women's side, the Knights finished 13th overall.

The men's team kicked off the year with an outstanding showing at the Cross Country NCAA Championship Meet, finishing second overall behind All-American performances from Ryan Hagan, Emerson Comer, and Pierce Young. Hagan led the way for Knights in the race, earning a fourth place finish with a time of 23:52.7. Through the first 6k of the race, Hagan found himself sitting in eighth place, but he put together an impressive finish to move up the leaderboard all the way to fourth place as he crossed the finish line just one second ahead of Wisconsin La-Crosse. This marks Hagan's first cross country All-American honor, after placing 84th last year at 25:04.5.

Joining Hagan as first time cross country All-Americans, were teammates Emerson Comer and Pierce Young placing 15th and 29th, respectively. Comer also put together an impressive final push to the race, moving up three spots in the final kilometer to put up a time of 24:14.5, beating out Colorado College by less than a second. Young was locked in a close battle down the stretch, with five runners finishing within 1.2 seconds of each other. The Arkport, N.Y. native out-kicked North Central and NYU by .5 seconds to finish 29th and help the Knights earn that second-place spot overall.

At the indoor track and field meet, Geneseo took seventh overall, powered by the Distance Medley Relay team winning the national championship, and runner-up finishes by Hagan in the 3000m and the 4x400 relay team. The DMR team of Arjun Ojha, Dawson Wadsworth, Ryan Hagan, and Pierce Young took first overall with a meet record time of 9:42.65, Hagan was runner-up in the 3000m at 8:06.04, and the 4x400 relay team of Andrew Kent, Sam Belmont, Giancarlo Di Fava, and Jacob Miller also took second, posting a program record time of 3:11.13.

At the outdoor track and field NCAA Meet, the Knights saw two national championship performances, one from Ryan Hagan in the 1500m, and the other from the 4x400 relay team. The two national championship performances, in addition to runner-up performances from Sam Belmont in 400m hurdles and Hagan in the 800m, helped secure a program-best fourth place finish overall as a team. Hagan won the 1500m national title, displaying an impressive kick in the final 200m en route to a winning time of 3:44.29, a new meet record. The team of Arjun Ojha, Sam Belmont, Andrew Kent, and Jacob Miller capped off the meet by winning the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:07.62.

The women's program finished 13th overall on the season behind finishing 22nd at Cross Country, seventh at Indoor Track and Field, and 55th at Outdoor Track and Field. Full press release from the USTFCCCA.
