ONEONTA, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's lacrosse team picked up its third-straight win, and first in the Empire 8 conference, with a 12-5 victory at Hartwick on Saturday afternoon. The Knights improve to 3-4 with the win, while the Hawks fall to 2-4.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Jimmy Atkinson and Luca Schettino helped the Knights take a quick 4-0 lead over Hartwick, both recording two points with Atkinson scoring twice and Schettino adding one goal and one assist. The Hawks were able to get one goal back before the end of the opening quarter to make it a 4-1 Geneseo advantage.
• The Knights kept the pressure up in the second quarter, with Colin Cahill and Torin Bograd finding the back of the net to make it a 6-2 lead going to halftime.
• Hartwick struck first coming out of half, but Atkinson and Ryan Trebing scored the final two goals of the third quarter to extend the lead to 8-3 heading to the final 15 minutes. Geneseo kept any thoughts of a comeback at bay in the final quarter, outscoring the Hawks 4-2 to secure the 12-5 victory.

QUICK FACTS:

• Atkinson led the team in points, recording five on three goals and two assists. Cahill chipped in three points on two goals and one assist.
• Jake Starkey picked up a team high six ground balls while going 11-19 on face offs, while Riley Henselder added five ground balls.
• Andrew Tittman got the win in goal, tallying 10 saves.
