UNION, N.J. - The SUNY Geneseo men's lacrosse team picked up its second-straight win on Wednesday evening, defeating Kean on the road, 14-12. The Knights improve to 2-4 on the season, while the Cougars fall to 7-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Jimmy Atkinson opened and closed the scoring in the first quarter of action, netting a goal just over two minutes into play and then his second of the game with 14 seconds left on the clock. Atkinson's two goals helped give Geneseo a 4-2 advantage going into the second quarter.
- The Knights grew their lead to four goals in the second quarter, with goals from Aksel Stanat, Riley Henselder, and Ronnie Trebing. Kean was able to get one back in the final minute, but Geneseo took a 7-4 lead into halftime.
- Geneseo grew its lead to as many as five goals in the third quarter after a goal from Henselder made it a 10-5 advantage. Despite a late push in the final two minute of the game from Kean, the Knights lead proved to be too much to overcome and they held on for the 14-12 win.
