Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women's Lacrosse Cruises Past No.14 Roanoke 17-10

SALEM, VA: The SUNY Geneseo Women's Lacrosse team defeated No. 14 Roanoke 17-10 this afternoon. Rosemary Mahoney led the team with six goals and one assist.  

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • Lyko, Mahoney and Katie Rajkowski opened the second with three more goals within the first three minutes of play to make the score 7-3 Geneseo. Rajkowski tallied a second goal at 6:40 while man-up. Teammates Dany Elmer and Natalie Long continued the advance, scoring two more before half to give the Knights a five-goal lead.  

  • Roanoke tried to close the gap in the third, but Mahoney, Rajkowski, and Grace Reyna extended the Knights lead to 14-8.  

  • Geneseo continued to control the game in the fourth. Reyna scored her second of the game off a free position shot followed by Mahoney who tallied two more, and the Knights cruised past Roanoke 17-10.  

QUICK FACTS: 

  • Mahoney led the team with seven points: six goals and one assist. The freshman now sits at 17 goals and 8 assists this season.    
  • Maddie Brown tallied 3 assists this afternoon and is leading the team with 15 assists this season.  
  • Violet Piccinini and Katie Rajkowski led the team in draw controls with five each.
  • Emily DeJohn made eight saves in her 60 minutes between the pipes.  

WHAT'S NEXT: 

The team will head to Shenandoah University on March 19th for their final game over spring break.
