Women's Lacrosse Comes Up Short Against Hamilton

GENESEO, NY: The Geneseo Women's Lacrosse team fell 14-8 to the Hamilton Continentals this afternoon. The team's record is now 1-4 for the season.  

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Hamilton went on a 11-goal streak through the first two periods before Geneseo go on the board. Rosemary Mahoney found the back of the net on a free position shot four minutes into the third period. Alaina Reina followed up with another goal on a free position shot while a man-up. The team trailed Hamilton heading into the fourth 13-2. 

  • Natalie Long struck first in the final period of play at 13:07. She was followed by Olivia Lucchetti, who went on a three-goal run to bring the score to 14-6; she was assisted by Mahoney and Lyla Warner.  

  • Long scored her second of the game off a free position shot with 1:26 left to play. Reina ran it back for the Knights, scoring again with 30 seconds left on a free position shot. Despite the Knights fourth quarter efforts, the team was unable to rally and fell 14-8. 

QUICK FACTS: 

  • Ollivia Lucchetti tallied her second hattrick of the season and now has a total of eight this year.  

  • Freshman Goaltender Teagan Culhane ended the night with a .429 SV% 

Geneseo last played Hamilton in 2018, winning 15-11. This loss makes the team 1-1 against the Continentals.  

WHAT'S NEXT:  

The Knights will head to Virginia over Spring break to play Roanoke on March 16th at 2 PM.
