Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women's Lacrosse Falls To RIT

GENESEO, NY: The Geneseo Women's Lacrosse team fell 17-14 against RIT. The Knights are now 0-2 on the season.  

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • Geneseo extended their lead in the second period; Mahoney, Long and Luchetti all scored alongside Maddie Brown who tallied her first goal of the night. RIT closed the gap, but Sophie Lyko found the back of the net on a free-position shot and the Knights headed into halftime up 11-9.  

  • In the third, RIT nailed four unanswered goals to take the 13-11 lead. The Knights tied it up in the beginning of the fourth, with Brown and Alaina Reina nailing two goals back-to-back. RIT fought back, putting up four goals, and even with Geneseo's final push, the team was unable secure the win and fall 17-14.  

QUICK FACTS: 

  • Maddie Brown led the team with six points; two goals and four assists. She has 10 points so far this season.  

  • Natalie Long led the team in goals with four; a new career high.  

WHAT'S NEXT: 

The Knights will face off against St. Lawrence. Time and location are TDB.
