Men's Basketball Concludes Regular Season at Brockport

BROCKPORT, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's basketball team concluded regular season play on Tuesday evening at Brockport, and fell by a score of 87-73. The defeat drops the Knights to 9-16 overall and 6-10 in Empire 8 play, while Brockport improves to 16-9 and 14-2 in conference.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Josh Garelle opened up the scoring in the game, knocking down the first two shots of the game to give the Knights a quick 4-0 lead. Brockport would go on to flip the momentum in their favor, and lead by as many as nine points later in the first half.
  • Down 31-22 with five minutes left before halftime, Geneseo closed the half on a 13-9 run to cut the deficit down to five points. Shots from behind the arc by Robert Pericolosi and Jackson Casey highlighted the run to close out the half.
  • Colin Gentile opened the second half with a dunk on the first possession, but the Golden Eagles responded and extended the lead in the next few minutes to 11 points. Trailing 56-45, Geneseo rattled off a 15-4 run to tie the game at 60-60. Unfortunately, the Knights couldn't keep the momentum on their side and ultimately fell 87-73.
QUICK FACTS:
  • Garelle had an impressive game for Geneseo, leading the team in scoring with 23 and rebounding with eight.
  • Pericolosi (14), Trevor Hofer (13), and Gentile (10) joined Garelle in double digit scoring.
WHAT'S NEXT?
Geneseo will have to wait until tomorrow night to learn their postseason fate. The Knights will earn the No. 8 seed for the playoffs with a Utica win over Keukat, but would be elminated from postseason contention if Keuka wins.
