GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's basketball team defeated Keuka on Saturday afternoon in Schrader Gym by a score of 81-53. The win improves the Knights record to to 7-13 and 4-7 in the conference, while Keuka falls to 6-12 and 3-7 in the Empire 8.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Knights got off to a hot start in the game, jumping ahead 15-3 behind a pair of three's from Trevor Hofer, and five points from Robert Pericolosi. Geneseo kept the pressure on the Wolves, eventually going ahead by 27 points at 33-6.
- Keuka was able to rally before the half came to an end, going on a 16-0 run to only trail 33-22. However, the Knights bounced back and closed out the half strong, leading 51-30 at the break after a pair of free throws from Hofer.
- Geneseo didn't allow any thoughts of a comeback in the second half, extending the lead to as many as 34 points. With just under five minutes left to play in the game, both teams agreed to end the game at 81-53 following a medical injury with Keuka's team.
QUICK FACTS:
- Trevor Hofer put up the best performance of his freshman campaign, scoring a game-high 32 points with 7-10 shooting from three.
- Pericolosi and Josh Garelle joined Hofer in double-digits with 16 and 12, respectively, while Garelle led the team in rebounds with 11.
- Geneseo shot an impressive 57.4 percent from the field, while holding Keuka to just 35.7 percent.
