HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Buffalo St. got on the board early in the first period, but Geneseo answered back at the 6:55 mark with a goal from Carter Diceman, scoring off assists from Ryan Forberg and Alex Dameski. With time winding down in the first period, Filip Wiberg put the Knights ahead 2-1 with a power play goal, but Buffalo St. found a way to score again right before the end of the period to tie it at 2-2.
  • Geneseo and the Bengals traded goals throughout the second period, but the Knights held the 5-4 advantage when the dust settled with goals scored by Cameron Ricotta, Robert Gatewood, and Sean Melso.
  • Leading by a goal for most of the third period, Buffalo St. eventually broke through the Geneseo defense and tied the game at 5-5, forcing overtime.
  • In overtime, the Knights took advantage of a skate malfunction from the Bengals and quickly attacked with a 3v2 advantage, with Dakota Zarudny and Greg Diamond teaming up to find Bagnole waiting at the far post for the game winning goal.
