Men's Ice Hockey Opens UCHC Play With 4-2 Win At Albertus Magnus

NEW HAVEN, C.T. - The SUNY Geneseo men's hockey team traveled to Albertus Magnus for their first UCHC contest on Friday evening, and came away with a 4-2 win. The victory improves the Knights overall record to 3-1-1 as they jump to 1-0-0 in conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Danny Bagnole struck first for the Knights on the power play, sniping one from the top of the zone after receiving a great pass from Dakota Zarudny to go up 1-0. Albertus Magnus tied it up on their own power play with 6:13 to play.
  • The games stayed tied through the second period, with Jacob Torgner coming up big in goal, making eight saves in net. In response, the Knights put the pressure on Falcons, putting 15 shots on net.
  • Geneseo took the lead with 14:15 left in the third. Carter Diceman carried the puck into the Falcons zone and connected with Alex Dameski in front of the net, firing past the glove of the Albertus Magnus goalie.
  • Ryan Forberg tallied his first goal as a Knight with four minutes left to play, giving Geneseo the lead. Bagnole and Zarudny cycled the puck through the Falcons zone, finding a wide-open Forberg at the circle for the third goal of the night.
  • Albertus Magnus snuck one past with a minute left to make it 3-2 and pulled their goalie to have the extra man. Geneseo got control of the puck and sealed the deal with an empty-netter from Greg Diamond, marking his first collegiate goal and the Knights third win of the season.
