GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's basketball team pulled out a 64-63 victory over RIT on Saturday afternoon behind 22 points and last second bucket by
Grace Galgano. The win moves Geneseo to 5-2 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Geneseo opened the game on a tear, putting up 22 points compared to RIT's 14. Galgano was a relentless offensive force, scoring half of the Knights' points, including a pair of three-pointers.
- Geneseo continued to control the offense in the second quarter, stretching the lead to 38-28 by halftime. The Knights were efficient from beyond the arc, hitting 4 of 6 three-point attempts for 66.7%.
- RIT started to mount its rally in the third quarter, out-scoring the Knights 16-13. Still, Geneseo held firm to carry a 51-44 lead into the fourth.
- The Tigers stayed right on Geneseo's heels in the final quarter. With a minute and a half remaining, Maggie McGrane came up clutch, knocking down two free throws to put the Knights ahead 62-61. The Tigers answered right back with a field goal, but Galgano sealed the win with a jumper in the paint with seven seconds left.
