ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's ice hockey team won its fourth-straight game on Friday afternoon, defeating Nazareth 2-1. The Knights improve to 5-1-1 with the win, and 3-0-0 in UCHC play, while the Golden Flyers fall to 3-4-0 and 0-3-0.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Luke Panchisin got the team on the board nine minutes into the first period with a textbook wraparound goal for the 1-0 lead. Filip Wiberg and Greg Diamond were credited with the assists.
• Nazareth opened the second period on the power play, but the Knights were able to fend of the attacking Golden Flyers. However, they were able to sneak one in to tie the game 1-1 shortly after. The Knights managed to find the back of the net as the buzzer sounded but the goal was called back, sending the teams into the third period 1-1.
• Geneseo started hot in the third period, throwing seven shots on net, with Wiberg finally finding the back of the net off a quick backhand in front of the net after the give and go from Greg Diamond and Panchisin. The Knights defense held strong down the stretch, securing the 2-1 victory.

QUICK FACTS:

• Ian Vandenberg tallied 38 saves in the win, including 21 in the first period of action to hold Nazareth to just one goal in the game.
• Wiberg and Panchisin both recorded a goal and an assist in the game, as they now have 10 and eight points, respectively, to lead the Knights this season.
• Geneseo has now won 13 of its last 14 games against Nazareth.
