WOOSTER, O.H. - The SUNY Geneseo men's basketball team traveled to Wooster on Friday evening for a two-day tournament, but came up short in the opener, falling 83-59 to Wooster. The Knights fall to 2-3 on the season while the Fighting Scots improve to 1-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Geneseo faced an early eight-point deficit, down 11-3 through three minutes, but Robert Pericolosi helped the Knights offense get going by knocking down a three off a pass from Josh Garelle.
- Unfortunately, Geneseo couldn't keep the momentum going as they fell down 44-28 heading to halftime.
- The Knights came out of halftime hot, fighting to keep the score close as they cut the deficit down to 12 multiple times, with back-to-back shots from Jaiyden Jones inside the first four minutes propelling the offensive effort.
- Geneseo couldn't find a way to bring Wooster's lead down to single-digits in the second half, and ultimately fell 83-59.
QUICK FACTS:
- Jones backed up a 12-point performance on Tuesday by registering a career-high 14 points against Wooster, while Garelle (12) and Pericolosi (11) each chipped in double digit scoring as well.
- Jones led the rebounding effort as well with six, with teammates Perioclosi and Wallace Rahmaan Jr. each tallying five.
