ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The SUNY Geneseo men's basketball team traveled to face off against the RIT Tigers on Tuesday evening and came away with an 80-76 win. The victory improves the Knights record to 2-2 overall, while the Tigers fall to 0-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Jaiyden Jones started things off quickly for the Knights, hitting a shot from beyond the arc in the opening moments of the game. Colin Gentile added five points of his own a few minutes later. He scored a layup off a feed from Jones and nailed a shot from behind the three point line.
- The lead changed teams 24 times in the first half, following a strong shooting display for both teams. Geneseo and RIT had 17 and 15 FG made respectively, as RIT took a 44-40 lead going into halftime.
- Collin Gentile would bring the Knights within one point, making a three-point shot out of the halftime break. Gentile, Jones and Josh Garelle would follow up with three consecutive layups to give the Knights a 47-44 lead.
- The Knights made the most of their chances in the second half, capitalizing on their strong start, and they were able to come away with an 80-76 win.
QUICK FACTS:
- Geneseo had a strong display in the paint, accounting for 42 of their 80 points.
- Robert Pericolosi had a double-double in the game with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Three other Knights achieved double digit points in the contest, Colin Gentile (16), Jaiyden Jones (12) & Trevor Hofer (12).
