Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Cruises Past Colby-Sawyer For First Win Of The Season

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The SUNY Geneseo men's basketball team played their second straight game in Poughkeepsie, facing off against Colby-Sawyer College. It was a dominant showing for the Knights, as they cruised to a 96-67 victory for their first win of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Knights started the game off by scoring seven straight layups with their offensive opportunities. Robert Pericolosi led the way for the Knights early, he registered eight points within the first four minutes of the game and drew a few trips to the line.
  • The Knights played a very strong game in the paint, accounting for 28 of their 47 points in the first half. The offensive production in the paint was fueled by Geneseo's ability to force Colby-Sawyer into costly turnovers. The Knights went into halftime with a 47-33 lead.
  • The second half panned out like the first, the Knights were able to dominate the paint, scoring another 24 points from inside. Geneseo was able to control the lanes to the rim on both sides of the ball and didn't allow Colby-Sawyer to bridge the gap they made in the first half, resulting in a 96-67 Geneseo victory.
QUICK FACTS:
  • Geneseo finished with 52 points in the paint, compared to just 20 from Colby-Sawyer
  • The Knights out rebounded Colby-Sawyer 42-35 (7 offensive 35 defensive).
  • Josh Garelle has reached at least 20 points in all 3 of the Knights games this season, while Trevor Hofer (17), Colin Gentile (14), and Pericolosi (10) all reached double digit points.
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Knights continue their early season road stretch as they travel to Rochester to face off against RIT on Nov. 18th at 7:30 P.M.
