LA PLUME, P.A. - The SUNY Geneseo women's basketball team cruised past Keystone College on Monday evening, clinching an impressive 84-15 victory. The Knights are now 2-1 overall to begin the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Geneseo jumped out to a hefty first-quarter lead over Keystone, closing the frame up 16-6. Kristin Suydam sank two jumpers in the paint, while Eva Elliot ignited the Knight's offense with a fastbreak layup, setting the tone early.
- Geneseo continued their momentum into the second quarter, shutting down Keystone and leaving no room for a comeback. Grace Galgano racked up ten points in the quarter, including two three-pointers. By halftime, the Knights had a commanding 43-8 lead.
- The Knights maintained their relentless pace in the second half and didn't look back, finishing with a 84-15 win over Keystone.
QUICK FACTS:
- The Knights put up 31 second-chance points, with 11 coming in the second quarter alone.
- Suydam led the charge inside, going a perfect 6-for-6 on the field and scoring 12 points in the paint. Galgano joined her as the team-lead in scoring on the day with 13.
- Aliza Whitehead tallied a team-high 13 rebounds (7 offense, 6 defensive), while Ellie Clearwater also recorded double digit rebounds at 10.
- The Knights broke two program records in the game, grabbing 77 rebounds for a new single game record, and 15 points allowed sets a new program record for fewest points given up in a game, breaking last year's mark of 19 against Keuka.
