Women's Soccer Ties RIT, 0-0

GENESEO, N.Y. – The SUNY Geneseo women's soccer team faced off against the RIT Tigers at College Stadium on Wednesday afternoon. Both teams were locked into a defensive battle and the game resulted in a 0-0 tie. This tie brings the Knights record to 2-4-4 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Geneseo had multiple good offensive looks early in the game, within the first nine minutes both Julia Carter and Abby Foster registered shots, but couldn't find the back of the net.
  • Both teams went on to exchange shots on goal early, but the remainder of the first half was a defensive battle that limited the offensive action.
  • In the second half, the defensive pressure continued from both teams, however, in the closing seconds of the game Abby Dunnigan and Kirsten Shepherd narrowly missed the goal on back-to-back shots. The Knights could not capitalize on these opportunities with the RIT goalkeeper making a pair of big saves, and the game ended in a 0-0 draw.
QUICK FACTS:
  • Emily McLouth was back in net for a full game for the Knights. She recorded seven saves in the game, bringing her season total to 41.
  • Seven different Knights had shots attempts, while Foster lead the way with four.
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Knights will be back on the road in Empire 8 action against Elmira College on Oct. 11th at 1 PM.
