Men's Soccer Remains Undefeated In Empire 8 Action With 2-1 Win At Utica

UTICA, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's soccer team picked up a big Empire 8 victory on Saturday afternoon, traveling to Utica and coming away with a 2-1 win. The Knights improve to 7-4-1 overall and a perfect 5-0 in conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Dylan Thody got the Knights on the board early, scoring in the eighth minute of action. After the Pioneers attemped to clear a cross from Eric Carnes, Thody collected the clear attempt and drilled a shot past the goalkeeper to put Geneseo ahead.
  • The Knights went on to out-shoot the Pioneers 5-3 in the first half, and recorded two more corner kicks, but couldn't add to their lead and took a 1-0 advantage into the second half.
  • In the second half, Geneseo extended the lead to 2-0 with a goal from Aidan Lodie. Thody and Michael Ruggiero assisted on the play.
  • The Knights conceded a last-minute goal, but Utica couldn't push past the Knights defense to find the equalizer, securing the 2-1 victory.
