GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo field hockey team defeated Alvernia at College Stadium on Saturday afternoon by a score of 2-0. The win marked the sixth-straight victory for the Knights as they improve to 10-1 overall.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The Knights put the pressure on the Wolves early, registering four shots in the first quarter compared to zero from Alvernia, but couldn't find a way to break past the defense and it was a 0-0 tie going into the second.
• Ella Greico finally put Geneseo ahead, scoring just over four minutes into the second quarter off a penalty stroke.
• Geneseo took their 1-0 lead into the second half, but the Wolves defense held strong and kept it a one-goal game heading to the final 15 minutes.
• Aubree Wenner wasted no time giving the Knights an insurance goal in the fourth quarter, finding the back of the goal just 45 seconds into the action. Geneseo's defense held strong in the closing minutes and secured the 2-0 victory.

QUICK FACTS:

• Greico recorded her 32nd point of the season, leading the Empire 8 conference by 13 points.
• Wenner tallied her eighth goal of the season, the second-most on the Knights offense.
• Bridget Schafer tallied three saves in goal to record the shutout win.
