GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's soccer team lost against Brockport 1-0 in their final regular season game. The Knights enter the playoffs as the No. 1 seed with an overall record of 11-5-2 and conference record of 9-1-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Brockport found the back of the net early in the half to take the lead, but Alec Gilbert followed it up with two huge saves in the final ten minutes to keep the score 1-0 at half.
- Anthony Abbondanza ripped a shot from the top of the box early in the second half, but Brockport's goalie made the save and Geneseo couldn't find the equalizer.
- Jace DiPalo made a great centering pass in the 85th minute to Kyle Arriano but they were unable to connect for a Geneseo goal. The Knights continued to push towards the final seconds, with a shot by Patrick Krough coming up close with five seconds left on the clock.
QUICK FACTS:
- Geneseo out shot Brockport 9-8.
- Max Crothall, Alec Gilbert and LJ Gleason all spent time in net, totaling four saves.
- The Knights finished the regular season 11-5-2, and Empire 8 regular season champions, the program's first regular season title since the 2008 season.
