GENESEO, N.Y. -The SUNY Geneseo women's volleyball team celebrated Senior Day on Saturday afternoon with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Alfred in a five-set showdown. The Knights now hold a 13-10 overall record and are 6-3 in Empire 8 action. Geneseo honored their one senior,
Carolyn Mack, with a brief pre-game ceremony.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The first set was tightly contested at the start, but Geneseo broke through to grab a 10-5 lead. Alfred answered with a surge of its own, tightening up the defense to even the score at 11. The teams traded points down the stretch until the Saxons pulled away late to secure a 25-20 win.
- The Knights exploded out of the gate in the second set, racing to a 10-0 lead before the Saxons got on the board. Alfred battled back to pull within two at 16-14, but the Knights kept their foot on the gas to close out the set with a 25-23 win. Daphne Paul-LaRonca contributed three service aces, adding to the Knights' strong performance at the service line.
- Geneseo held a steady lead in the third set and was able to create enough distance to secure a commanding 25-16 victory over Alfred. Carolyn Mack tallied three kills, while Ayla Pas'cal chipped in two kills and a service ace to keep the momentum rolling.
- Alfred held the upper hand for much of the fourth set, as Geneseo trailed only a few behind. The Knights fought to stay in the set, but the Saxons ultimately grabbed a 25-22 victory.
- The teams entered a decisive fifth set with the match tied at two. The Knights took charge early and never looked back, grinding out a 15-13 victory. Kate Barba led the Knights' attack with four kills.
QUICK FACTS:
- Barba led the offense with 17 kills and a .292 hitting percentage, while Pas'cal added 10 kills and six solo blocks.
- Mack dished out 28 assists in her Senior Day performance.
- Zooey Gagnier recorded 14 digs, while McKenna Callari added 13 to lead the defensive effort.
