HOUGHTON, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's volleyball dropped the first set at Houghton on Friday evening, but bounced back for a four-set win 20-25, 25-13, 25-16, 25-21. The victory improves the Knights record to 12-10 overall and 5-3 in Empire 8 action.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Houghton struck first, racing to an early lead against Geneseo in the opening set. The Knights battled to stay within reach, but the Highlanders maintained control to take a 25-20 win. Peyton Cole led the charge with four kills, while Kate Barba added three.
- Geneseo responded with authority in the second set, building an early nine-point cushion. The Knights used that momentum to even the match with a dominating 25-13 finish.
- The third set remained tight early on until the Knights pulled away with a 20-13 advantage. Houghton couldn't recover, and the Knights sealed the frame with a 25-16 victory. McKenna Callari contributed three service aces to pace Geneseo's effort.
- With Geneseo leading the match 2-1, the teams entered a fourth set. The Knights controlled the tempo from start to finish, and ultimately secured a 25-21 win over the Highlanders.
