GENESEO, N.Y. – The SUNY Geneseo women's soccer team took the home field for the last time of the 2025 regular season Wednesday afternoon against the Houghton University Highlanders. It was a back-and-forth game that ultimately ended in a 1-1 tie. This tie moves the Knights to 4-4-7 on the year and 4-1-4 in Empire 8 action, with two games remaining on their schedule.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Both teams were able to make opportunities for their forwards early. At the four-minute mark, Houghton was able to sneak the ball past Emily McLouth as she moved up to make a save, making the game 1-0. Four minutes after that, Kirsten Shepherd was able to tie things up for the Knights off a feed from Grace Engle.
- Geneseo created some corner kick opportunities and scoring chances, but nothing was able to find the back of the net and the score stayed 1-1 going into halftime.
- Geneseo registered 11 shots and 10 corner kicks in the second half, however, Houghton held strong and the Knights couldn't find a way to take the lead, ending the game in a 1-1 tie.
