Offensive Firepower Leads Field Hockey Past Sage, 9-2

GENESEO, N.Y. - The No. 23 SUNY Geneseo field hockey team used its high-powered offense to cruise past Sage on Saturday afternoon, picking up a 9-2 victory. The Knights have now won 11-straight games and hold a 15-1 overall record with 7-0 in Empire 8 action.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Knights wasted no time jumping ahead, scoring four goals in the opening 15 minutes. Kyra Giannelli and Ava Harman got Geneseo on the board first inside the first four minutes of action, while Halle Senfield added another goal as the Knights took a 4-0 lead ot the second quarter.
  • Senfield opened up the scoring in the second quarter, followed by a goal Sophia Cox. Shannon Cunningham went on to score back-to-back goals before the end of the half, making it an 8-0 lead for the Knights.
  • The Gators would go on to score twice in the second half, while Caitlin O'Malley registered the final goal of the game for the Knights as they secured the 9-2 victory.
QUICK FACTS:
  • The Knights dominance on both sides of the field continued, as they now hold a 71-9 goal differential advantage on the season.
  • Bridget Schafer got the win in goal after playing the first half, while Alessandra Burke and Marley Runciman both saw time in goal in the second half.
  • Geneseo remains in first place in the Empire 8 standings at 7-0.
