Men's Soccer Draws with Alfred

ALFRED, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's soccer team tied Saturday afternoon against Alfred, 2-2. The Knights have an overall record od 9-4-2 and remain undefeated in Empire 8 play with a 7-0-1 conference record.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The first half remained scoreless on both sides of the field despite a valiant effort from the Knights. The Knights put up five shots, with Dylan Thody missing just wide in the 20th minute.
  • Alfred struck first in the second half, but the Knights answered back with a goal of their own to tie it up. Connor Guercia tallied his first goal of the season from 35 yards out, sailing it right over the goalie's hands. Michael Ruggerio was credited with the assist.
  • Dylan Thody scored another for Geneseo five minutes later, getting the rebound off of a shot from Jace DiPalo to take the lead. However, Alfred wasted no time, tying the score 2-2 within the next minute of play. Despite the Knights putting up nine shots in the second half, they were unable to grab the win.
