BROCKPORT, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's volleyball team faced Brockport on Wednesday evening in an Empire 8 contest, and fell 3-0. The Knights now hold a 10-9 overall record and are 3-2 in conference action.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Geneseo jumped out to a steady lead for much of the opening set, but Brockport clawed their way back to level the score at 22. The Golden Eagles rallied late to finish out the set with a 27-25 win over the Knights.
- The Knights started off strong in the second set, controlling the pace of the offense until Brockport evened things up. With Geneseo leading 21-18, the Golden Eagles scored seven consecutive points to escape with a 25-21 victory. Kate Barba tallied three kills in the set.
- The third set was a back-and-forth battle down the stretch, but the Golden Eagles scraped by with a narrow 25-23 win over the Knights. Barba ignited the offense with six kills in the final frame.
QUICK FACTS:
- Zooey Gagnier tallied 16 digs in the match, bringing her season total to just one under 300.
- Carolyn Mack dished out 14 assists, while Barba recorded 12 kills to lead the offense.
