ALFRED, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo field hockey team defeated Alfred on Wednesday afternoon by a score of 6-0. The win marks the Knights 10th-straight victory as they improve to 14-1 overall and 6-0 in Empire 8 action.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The Knights didn't waste much time jumping ahead of the Saxons, with Ella Greico scoring in the seventh minute of action, only to be followed by another goal from Grace Murphy a minute later. Ella Axelson scored off a pass from Kyra Giannelli to cap off a three-goal first quarter for Geneseo.
• The Knights extended their lead in the closing minutes of the second quarter, scoring twice in the final two minutes. Meredith Guertin found Ella Wade for the first goal, then Sophia Cox scored less than a minute later to make it 5-0 heading to halftime.
• Geneseo's defense held strong throughout the second half, holding Alfred to zero shot attempts, while Wade knocked in her second goal of the day to secure the 6-0 win.

QUICK FACTS:

• Greico scored her 17th goal of the season, improving to 39 points to lead the Knights offense.
