GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's volleyball team defeated Keuka in three sets on Saturday afternoon, with scores of 25-22, 25-16, 25-15. The Knights improve to 10-8 overall and 3-1 in the Empire 8 with the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Geneseo trailed early in the match, down 5-3, but went on to win six of the next seven points with two aces by Cory Elder, to go up 9-6. The Knights continued to control the action until the Wolves went ahead 22-21 late, but strong play down the stretch gave Geneseo the 25-22 victory.
- The Knights continued their momentum into the second set, leading 14-8 early on following a kill by Ayla Pas'cal. Pas'cal went on to secure the set-winning kill at 25-16.
- Geneseo's third set win was highlighted by an eight-point run with Kate Barba at the service line to go ahead 18-9. The Knights went on to easily cruise to a 25-15 win to secure the sweep.
QUICK FACTS:
- Carolyn Mack dished out a match-high 18 assists while adding on six digs and four kills.
- Barba led the offense with 13 kills and a .400 hitting percentage, while Pas'cal hit .467 on eight kills.
- Zooey Gagnier led the defensive effort with 11 digs.
