GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo field hockey team defeated St. John Fisher on Wednesday evening, pulling out a 4-0 victory for their fifth-straight win. The Knights improve to 9-1 on the season and 4-0 in Empire 8 action.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Geneseo wasted no time getting on the board as Ella Greico put the Knights ahead 1-0 with a goal just six minutes in. Greico corralled a great pass from Ava Harman and was able to bury the shot past the goalkepper.
• Both defenses stepped up in the second quarter, with only one shot being recorded in the frame and one penalty corner.
• Greico recorded her second goal of the game early in the third quarter, picking up a rebound off a shot from Shannon Cunningham. Cunningham then extended the Knights lead to 3-0 just a few minutes later after scoring a penalty stroke.
• In the fourth quarter, Greico secured her hat trick by scoring off a pass from Sam Lewis. The Knights easily held on in the final minutes for the 4-0 win.

QUICK FACTS:

• Geneseo's defense was stellar in the contest, not allowing a single shot or penalty corner from the Cardinals.
• Greico now has 30 points on the season to lead the Geneseo offense, notching 13 goals and four assists.
• Bridget Schafer picked up the win in goal, playing all 60 minutes.
