Women's Basketball Opens 2025 With 74-54 Win Over Morrisville

GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's basketball team opened up the new year with a convincing 74-54 win over Morrisville in Schrader Gym on Friday afternoon. The win improves the Knights record to 5-4 overall, while the Mustangs fall to 4-5.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Geneseo opened up the game on fire from behind the arc, draining four threes in the first five minutes to jump ahead 15-5. Kiley Snow and Grace Galgano combined to drain the shots from deep as they both hit two.
  • The Knights continued to control the game for the remaining five minutes of the first quarter, as they held a 24-11 advantage at the break.
  • Three straight layups from Audrey Hintz, Mackenzie Reigle, and Brianna Beebe opened the scoring in the second quarter for Geneseo, but the Mustangs were able to hang around and keep the deficit at 12 points with four minutes left in the half. A layup from Zephyr Connolly in the closing minutes helped Geneseo extend the lead to 15 points before the third quarter.
  • Snow stayed hot from behind the arc for the Knights in the third quarter, knocking down another pair of three's in the opening five minutes. Galgano and Eva Elliot also added three pointers before the end of the quarter to make it a 61-39 lead.
  • Geneseo kept any attempts of a comeback from Morrisville at bay in the final 10 minutes, and earned their first win of the year by a score of 74-54.
