GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's basketball team defeated Houghton on Saturday afternoon by a score of 69-51, and
Kiley Snow highlighted the win for the Knights by eclipsing the 1,000 career point milestone. The win improves the Knights record to 13-4 overall and 8-0 in Empire 8 play, while the Highlanders fall to 13-4 and 3-4 in the conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Snow entered the game 19 points away from reaching 1,000 points, and wasted no time cutting into that goal by dropping 17 points in the first quarter. The Whitesboro, N.Y. native knocked down five three's in the quarter to help Geneseo take early control of the game with a 27-18 lead.
- Houghton had cut the lead down to eight points in the second quarter, but back-to-back threes in the final two minutes from Brianna Beebe and Mackenzie Reigle helped extend the Knights advantage to 17 points heading to the third quarter.
- Snow wasted no time recording her 1,000th career point in the second half, as the Knights went right to her on their opening possession, where she converted a tough layup in the paint to make it a 46-30 lead.
- Leading by 20 going into the fourth quarter, Geneseo continued to keep any hopes of a comeback at bay and pulled away for the 69-51 victory.
QUICK FACTS:
- Snow became the 17th player in program history to reach the 1,000 point mark, the first since McKenna Brooks in 2019.
- Reigle dished out a game-high 12 assists, marking double-digit assists in five of the last six games. Entering today's contest, she was second in the NCAA in total assists and assists per game at 7.2.
