KEUKA, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's basketball team couldn't pull out a win at Keuka on Friday evening, falling by a score of 81-76. The loss drops the Knights to 5-9 overall and 2-3 in Empire 8 action, while Keuka improves to 5-8 with a conference record of 2-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Robert Pericolosi helped Geneseo get off to a hot start, scoring seven of the Knights first 11 points as they led 11-2 seven minutes into the action. Keuka was able to bounce back, and went on to take an 11 point lead at 24-23 with two minutes left in the first half, but two unanswered three's from Trevor Hofer and Pericolosi helped the Knights cut the deficit to five points.
- The Wolves came out of halftime strong, leading by 11 points at 54-43, but a 15-4 run by the Knights tied the score back up at 58-58.Â
- The Knights were unable to take the lead and gain control of the game down the stretch, but an offensive rebound put-back from Pericolosi cut the Keuka lead down to two points with 22 seconds left on the clock. Unfortunately, the Wolves made their free throws down the stretch and Genseo couldn't complete the comeback win.
QUICK FACTS:
- Pericolosi dropped a career-high 24 points, while Josh Garelle chipped in 18 points on 6-7 shooting from the field and Hofer added 13 points of his own.
- In addition to his game-high 24 points, Pericolosi recorded a double-double with a game-high 14 rebounds.
