Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Corie Holding

Men's Soccer Takes Down Sage, 3-1

ALBANY, N.Y. - The Geneseo Men's Soccer team came out on top over Sage, winning 3-1. The Knights now sit at 3-2-3 on the season and 2-0-1 in conference play.  

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • Geneseo struck early, with Vasion Sinjari scoring seven minutes into the game off a rebound from a corner kick.  

  • The team had great opportunities to add a goal, with shots from Owen Burke and Evan Lodie, but  they were unsuccessful, sending the Knight's into halftime up 1-0.  

  • The Knight's came out hot in the second half, with the team scoring their second goal at the 63rd minute. Sinjari found Maxwell Fiorica sliding into the goal and the Knights went up 2-0.  

  • Sage answered back, with a goal just slipping past Vincent Maronski, making the score 2-1.  

  • Ali Chabani stole the ball on a Sage goal kick, took a shot from outside the 18, and hit the top corner of the net to make it a 3-1 lead with 13 minutes left.  

  • Geneseo ended the game with a win, holding the Gators to only one goal. The Knights are now 3-2-3 for the season and 2-0-1 in the Empire  

QUICK FACTS: 

  • The Knights out-shot the Gators 18-6, with Evan Lodie and Stefan Nikolic having three each. 

  • Goalkeeper Vincent Maronski came away with the win. In the eight games he has started, he has only allowed six goals, giving him a 0.739 SV%.

The Knights head to Keuka this Wednesday at 4 PM.
