GENESEO, N.Y.- The SUNY Geneseo women's soccer team fell 1-0 to No. 16 University of Rochester on Wednesday afternoon at College Stadium. The Knights battled hard, but the Yellowjackets took home the victory after scoring the game-winner in the 85
th minute.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Senior goalkeeper Mollie Collins denied the Yellow Jackets in the 9th minute with a strong save to keep the score even.
- Junior forward Abby Foster and fifth-year forward Juliet Frischmann had scoring opportunities in the first half but were unable to produce a shot on target.
- The Yellowjackets continued to threaten the net, but Collins was there to deny another scoring opportunity in the 75th minute.
- The deadlock was broken in the 85th minute from a cross that was buried into the bottom left corner of the net by the Yellow Jackets' forward, making the final score 1-0.
QUICK FACTS:
- Goalkeeper Mollie Collins recorded 17 saves during the contest, tied for tenth most all-time in the program for a single game.
- The Yellowjackets had 18 shots on goal while holding the Knights to zero.
- Geneseo won three corner kicks during play, Rochester recorded six.
