Women’s Volleyball Secures Win Over Fredonia, 3-1

GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's volleyball team picked up a big non-conference victory Tuesday evening over Fredonia, winning 3-1. Maddy Baumann led the offensive effort with 11 kills and the Knights now sit at 3-9 on the season as they head into conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Geneseo had a slow start to the match with Fredonia taking an early 10-4 lead. The Knights continued to try to fight back and gain the lead, but ultimately fell 25-19.

  • In the second, the Knights came out hot. Madison Gamberg had a great start, tallying 3 kills and an ace to give Geneseo the 12-7 lead. Fredonia attempted to come back but Ayla Pas'cal grabbed her second kill of the set and Peyton Cole sealed the set with two aces as Geneseo won 25-21.

  • Geneseo kept this momentum going, leading 8-4 early in the second set. Fredonia fought hard and took the lead 20-17 late in the set. However, Maddy Baumann kicked it into gear and tallied three straight kills off sets by Carolyn Mack and giving the team a 24-21 lead. Mack set Baumann up again on set point and she got the kill to win the set.

  • The Knights went on an 8-0 run to open the fourth set, and never looked back as they earned a 25-21 win to secure the four-set win over Fredonia.

KEY FACTS:
