GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's volleyball team fell to Scranton and Clarkson on Saturday afternoon at their home opening tri-match. The Knights now sit at 2-9 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • In the first match against Scranton, the Knights made a late push to comeback from a 10-point deficit in the opening set, but ulimately fell 25-17

  • In the second, Zooey Gagnier tied it up for the Knights, 17-17, with two great aces, but the Royals from Scranton managed to get back on top and took set two 25-20.

  • The Knights came out hot on offense in the third set with kills coming from Kate Barba and Maddy Baumann to get the team off to a 4-0 lead. Both teams battled throughout the third set, but Geneseo ultimately fell to Scranton 25-22.

  • In their second match of the day, Geneseo went back and forth with the Golden Knights for the first half of the set, but Clarkson was able to find a rhythm on offense and were able to escape with the 25-20 victory.

  • Clarkson took an early lead in the second set, going up 9-4, but Barba and Baumann continued their powerful performance at the net and brought the deficit to one. However, they could not continue their push, and Clarkson took set two 25-19.

  • In the third set, Geneseo continued to try and make a comeback attempt to force another set, but couldn't pull out the win and fell 25-15.
