Women's Soccer Beats St. John Fisher, 2-0

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's soccer team shut out St. John Fisher University, 2-0, on Saturday afternoon. The Knights were led by goal scorers Abby Dunnigan and Juliette Frischmann, and now sit at 4-2-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play.  

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The Knights opened the game strong, with Abby Dunnigan scoring the first goal of the game three minutes in with the assist from Abby Foster.  

  • Juliette Frischmann then capitalized on a penalty kick and gave the Knights a 2-0 lead halfway through the first.  

  • Entering the second, the Knights continued their attack, with great shots made by Frischmann, Carly Chupick and Carly Lawrence, but couldn't extend the lead.

  • Mollie Collins was stellar in goal, making two impressive saves to keep the Cardinals scoreless.  

  • In the 77th minute, Lauren DeMura just narrowly missed a third goal, hitting the post. The Knights defense held strong for the rest of the match and finished on top, winning 2-0. The team now sits at 4-2-1 and 2-0 in conference play. 

QUICK FACTS: 

  • Mollie Collins tallied her fourth win and third shutout of the season.  

  • The Knights have faced off against the Cardinals five times since 2013 and hold a 3-1-1 record against them during that time.
