Women's Soccer Falters Against the Herons

Geneseo, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's soccer team fell to the William Smith Herons 2-0 on Wednesday afternoon at College Stadium. The Knights now stand at 3-2-1 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Knights and Herons remained scoreless through the first half. While the Knights had great opportunities with early shots on goal from Carly Chupick, Lindsey Matthews, and Juliette Frischmann, they weren't able to find the back of the net. William Smith out-shot the Knights 6-5 in the half.

  • The Herons tallied their first goal of the game at 63:36. They followed it with a second goal just three minutes later.

  • Geneseo tried to fight back, with shots taken by Frischmann, Matthews, Abby Foster and Kiersten Shephard, but none got past the goalkeeper.

QUICK FACTS:

  • Mollie Collins tallied five saves in goal for the Knights, tying her second most in a game this season.
  • Frischmann and Matthews led the offensive effort with two shots on goal each.
