Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Corie Holding

Women's Soccer Blanks Hartwick, 3-0

ONEONTA, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's soccer team opened Empire 8 play on the road Saturday afternoon at Hartwick, and came away with a 3-0 win. The Knights improve to 3-1-1 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • Nadia Jaworowicz notched her first goal of the season and got Geneseo on the board at 29:15 off a pass from Casey Holstein. The Knights defense held strong for the remainder of the half and Geneseo entered the second half with the 1-0 lead.

  • The Knights came out hot in the second half, putting a lot of pressure on the Hawks defense. Holstein found the back off the net at 62:02 and Lanna Wandy was credited with the assist.  

  • Two minutes later, Lindsey Matthews tallies a goal off a great move by Holstein and the Knights earned the 3-0 victory.

KEY FACTS: 

  • Mollie Collins records her second shutout of the season, tallying two saves over the 90 minutes.

  • Freshman Casey Holstein tallied one goal and two assists, leading the team in points this game. Matthews tallied her fifth goal of the season and leads the offense on the year with 11 points.

WHAT'S NEXT: 

The Knights (3-1-1) head home and face off against William Smith (2-2-1) on Wednesday, September 14th at 4 PM.
