Field Hockey's Four-Game Win Streak Broken By #3 Salisbury

SALISBURY, M.D. -  The SUNY Geneseo field hockey team fell on the road to the #3 Salisbury Sea Gulls, 6-0, on Saturday afternoon. The defeat broke a four-game win streak for the Knights and dipped their record to 4-1 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Salisbury came out strong with a 3-0 lead in the first quarter, but the Knights made good adjustments in the second quarter as goalkeeper Lilly Spitz kept the Sea Gulls scoreless and the Knights offense tallied four shots. However, Salisbury was able to maintain the three goal lead at half.
  • Salisbury tallied another at the 38 minute mark and maintained control of the third period.
  • Geneseo out-shot the Sea Gulls in the fourth, but were unable to find the back of the net and the Knights fell, 6-0.
QUICK FACTS: 
  • Lilly Spitz made five saves in the game, tying her career high for saves in a game.
  • Sam Lewis led the team in shots with three including two shots on goal.

Geneseo will host their first Empire 8 contest against Nazareth on Wednesday, September 18th at 7 PM.
