Volleyball Drops A Pair To Oswego And William Smith

Geneva, NY- The Knights dropped two tough games on Saturday, losing 3-0 to Oswego and 3-0 to tournament host William Smith College. They now sit at 0-3 on the season.  

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

  • Geneseo came out strong against Oswego, going point for point through all three sets. The Knights notched 12 kills in the first set, hitting a .360.  

  • In the second, the Knights took the first three points. They continued to go back and forth for points, with Geneseo leading 19-18 after an attack error from Oswego. However, the push wasn't enough, and the Knights fell 25-20.  

  • Geneseo came out swinging in the third, clawing their way back from a 16-21 deficit. The team went on to tie it at 23-23 with a kill from Maddie Baumann. The teams traded points until Oswego finally took the win, beating Geneseo 30-28. 

  • Heading into the second match of the day, the Knight's saw the same tough play from William Smith, with Jenna Garvey trying the game at 10-10. Even though the team tried to capitalize on the Herons errors, they were unable to find the win, dropping the first set 25-23. 

  • The second and third set took a toll on the team, with only 10 kills between the two. The Knights ended the day going 0-3 in both games.  

QUICK FACTS:  

  • Jenna Garvey was named to the all-tournament team after tallying 35 assists and 7 kills through the three games.  

  • Maddie Baumann and Cory Elder led the team in kills, 17 and 18 kills respectfully.  

  • The team had 16 aces throughout the weekend, with five coming from Allie Driesen.
